Jefferson Teen Center
The Jefferson Teen Center is an after-school program offering safety, mentoring, tutoring, recreation, and social service referrals to Tri-Area youth ages 12-18.
UGN funding helps with direct operations and facility support.
The goal of the Center is to provide youth with the opportunity to be free, creative and accepting of themselves and others. The Center is the “safe place” for many of these youngsters, and addresses the serious issues faced by youth in the areas of violence, bullying, teen pregnancy, and teen suicide. Staff works closely with local prevention organizations to ensure that youth can experience a supportive atmosphere to make healthy choices.
The Teen Center is located in portable buildings on the Chimacum School campus. The Center has a “noisy room” featuring pool, foosbal and air hockey tables, etc. and a “quiet room” where staff are able to pursue tutoring in an atmosphere more conducive to concentration and study.
