Meals on Wheels
UGN provides critical funding for the Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) Senior Nutrition and Meals on Wheels services.
In 2009, the program helped about 560 individuals in Jefferson County – about 7.5% of the over-65 population in the county. Meals on Wheels served nutritious meals to 67 locations in Brinnon, Tri-Area, Port Townsend, Quilcene, Shine, and Marrowstone Island. 10 volunteer drivers delivered more than 6,500 meals.
About 20% of UGN funds went towards reimbursing 3,000 miles driven in Jefferson County by delivery volunteers. 80% was spent directly on providing meals.
