Jefferson Mental Health – Crisis Program
Jefferson Mental Health Services (JMHS) is a private, not-for-profit mental health center that provides mental health services to Jefferson County residents of all ages.
UGN funds have helped the JMHS Crisis Treatment Program provide shelter and meals to clients living with severe and persistent mental illness during episodes of instability.
This program provides for temporary housing and meals for clients who are comping with a mental health crisis. The program provides a safety net that helps mitigate the impacts on housing, family, employers, and the community. While not a substitute for involuntary commitment procedures (where necessary due to danger to self or others) this program provides the opportunity early in a crisis for alternative coping strategies to shorten and prevent relapse and hospitalizations.
