About UGN
For more than 50 years, when your neighbors have needed critical services, United Good Neighbors of Jefferson County has been there. UGN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that helps provide funding for, and raise awareness of critical social services in our community. How does it work? Donors make a financial contribution to UGN. We pool all contributions and provide funding to programs based on the criteria listed below. We also let donors select specific if desired.
This year, UGN will help three dozen agencies provide emergency, senior, youth, and community services to neighbors in Port Townsend, Port Hadlock, Chimacum, Port Ludlow, and surrounding areas.
Through a rigorous and evaluation-based model, UGN:
- Identifies the most pressing critical human service needs in the area
- Determines that basic needs are met through development of an annual strategy to match a “Safety Net” objective to available allocations.
- Selects the most pressing community needs that should be impacted by funding to available programs (Community Impact Model).
- Match community needs to available programs and services (Programs Assessment) and use our position in the community to assist in filling gaps.
- Ensure the effectiveness of the allocation process.
- Quantitatively and qualitatively measure the impact of the Safety Net and Community Impact models.
- All of us. Together. We Are United Good Neighbors!
